About Fontaine

Me... My name is Fontaine. I've been a hairstylist for 13 years. I started experimenting with my own hair at a time when most do, as a young, angsty teen. Luckily, all that angst turned into a passion and I got my cosmetology license at the ripe old age of 18. I grew up in Los Angeles, Ca and started working in a salon immediately after graduating high school. I worked in a few salons in LA as well as a few stints here in the Bay Area. Somewhere along the way my love of cutting hair outweighed my (not so much) love of color and I dedicated my time and work solely to cutting hair. I love cutting short hair, long hair, straight hair, curly hair and everything in between! Weather it's choppy and a-symmetrical, a nice precision cut or just your basic trim, I am excited and passionate about cutting hair. As a young adult I had a difficult time committing myself to staying in one city. I moved around a bit, took up different jobs at salons, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. But no matter what city I was in, or what job I had, I cut hair. Mostly in my kitchen, other people's kitchens, back yards, bathrooms and living rooms. As time passed I realized that I really loved these impromptu home haircuts! They always felt more intimate and relaxed than the often pretentious and intimidating salon environment I'd spent so much time in. After years of moving around, playing in a touring band and sleeping on couches, I've grown up, relaxed, and found my heart and home here in San Francisco. I still cut hair often and I still love it just as much as I ever have.
